Frequently Asked Questions
General
-
Yes, we offer secure telehealth sessions through Simple Practice as well as in-person sessions. You must be located in the state of Washington for telehealth sessions.
-
We require 24 hours advance notice of cancellation for a session. Failure to cancel before that period will lead to your appointment being charged at the full rate.
-
Parent and guardian involvement in sessions will vary depending on each individual session. When beginning services with Sequoia, all clients between ages 13 to 18 are asked to sign an ROI to parent/guardian and select what information they permit to share. Our full communication policy can be found here.
-
We understand that therapy isn’t one-size-fits-all, and finding a therapist you connect with can make all the difference in your work together. If you feel that your current therapist isn't the right fit, you’re welcome to discuss the option of working with someone else. One of the advantages of being a group practice is the ease of switching to another Sequoia clinician who may better suit your needs. Additionally, we can provide referrals to outside therapists if you prefer.
Consultation
-
Our free fifteen-minute phone consultations serve as a way for clinicians to introduce themselves and their background and gain more information about what you’re expecting from therapy in order to ensure that they are the best fit. An example of some of the questions our clinicians may ask you are:
What are you hoping to get out of counseling? What are some of the challenges you're facing right now?
What is your previous experience with counseling? Anything you liked, or did not like?
Any previous diagnoses or current/past medications? Current providers working to support you (psychiatric, PCP, etc).
What are some of your strengths? What are areas that you hope to grow in?
Who do you consider to be part of your support network?
What are some of your hobbies or passions? What are some areas of interest where you feel most motivated?
-
After you have filled out the Contact form and a clinician with matching availability and expertise has been determined, our practice manager will send an introductory email, at which point the clinician will share potential time slots for the consultation to take place.
-
The consultation call may involve the person seeking therapy, their caregivers, or both.
Billing & Insurance
-
We are not in-network for any insurance companies. We do, however, provide superbills that you can submit directly to your insurance. You can find our insurance policy here.
-
Individual sessions (55 min) are $195 and initial intake appointments (60 min) are $220.
-
We offer a sliding payment scale for our services as well as pay-what-you-can low cost sessions below our sliding scale for a select few clients to ensure equitable access. For more information on discounted sessions, email hello@sequoiateencounseling.com.
